Amy McGrail (Senior Counselor)

Amy dedicated 23 years to working with students as a science teacher at a large, comprehensive public high school just outside of the Chicago city limits. Amy’s time in education has included teaching students in all levels of Chemistry and Physics, coaching girls in cross country and track & field, and formally supporting teachers across all academic divisions as an Instructional Coach. 

While earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Amy enjoyed competing as a Division I cross country and track & field athlete for four years earning Academic All-Big Ten honors, Dean’s List, and the George Huff Award in Scholarship and Varsity Athletics. Amy has a degree of Master of Art in Teaching from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.

Amy has experience mentoring students completing research to present for the regional Percy Julian Science Symposium. Most recently, serving as leader for the Physics-Chemistry Honors teaching team, she was also selected as co-author for the course curriculum writing team. Amy utilizes her training in Executive Functioning skill support for developing strategies with students to organize time and maximize productivity.

She values education and is committed to helping students strive for excellence and growth in each step of their journey.
